Sri Lanka captain Upul Tharanga has been suspended for two games for maintaining a slow over rate during the second One Day International against India at Pallekele on Thursday. Sri Lanka were found three overs short by Match Referee Andy Pycroft and Tharanga was handed the two game ban.
Tharanga also was banned for a similar offense in England during Champions Trophy in June.
Sri Lanka have called up Test captain Dinesh Chandimal and top order batsman Lahiru Thirimanne as back up.
Selectors have decided to appoint Chamara Kapugedera as the captain for the two games despite his mediocre record.
