Dharmaraja News
Rajans laud it over Anthonians

Dharmaraja did all the hard yards, but failed to clinch an outright win over the Anthonians in their match played at Katugastota.

Nivantha Herath, 79 not out overnight duly completed his hundred. The Rajans added 44 runs in the morning and prolonged the agony for the home team. In hindsight, an earlier declaration may have afforded them more time to bowl the home team out twice.

Dharmaraja’s pace attack was totally ineffective. On top of that, skipper Galahitiyawa didn’t bowl as well as he can. Thus it was left to spinners Pupulewatte, Rajapakse and Dissanaike to dismantle the opposing line up.

Mohamed Alfer, who has lacked consistency turned up trumps when needed, to top score with 61. Skipper Ukgalpaya was dismissed cheaply both times.

Dharmaraja 269-4 contd. 313-6 decl. in 98 overs (Nivantha Herath 103 n.o., Shehan Vitharana 30, Prasad Premaratne 4-103).

St. Anthony’s 129 in 37 overs (Janidu Hinsara 26, Sandaruwan Dharmaratne 19, Sunera Jayasinghe 16, Yapa Bandara 15, Mohamed Alfter 16, Yapa Bandara 15, Mohamed Alfter 16, Ruchira Pupulewatte 3-20, Asmitha Rajapakse 3-19, Rukmal Dissanaike 2-16) and 123-4 in 37 overs.

(Mohamed Alfter 61, Yapa Bandara 29, Theekshana Gunasinghe 11, Asmitha Rajapakse 2-24, Rukmal Dissanaike 2-22).
