Ven Dhammananda of the Malwatte Temple who twice taught at Dharmaraja, is now hundred years old. He taught first in the Lower School at the Bilimoria Complex between 1952 to 1957. Then in the Seventies, he taught at the Primary School. Ven. Dhammananda is the person who had got renamed Victoria Drive (the road round the Kandy Lake) as Sangaraja Mawatha, after the '56 Revolution. He is also the monk who inaugurated the annual Sangaraja Perahera at the Malwatte temple and is responsible for continuing it todate.
On Saturday 25th Nov. the Principal, Staff and pupils of Dharmaraja felicitated him on his 100th Birth Day with a Dane, held at the College. Mr. S.B. Herath who is the relative of the ven. Monk participated in the function. May the Ven monk live long and be healthy to continue the traditions of the Malwatte Temple.
