Dharmaraja News
Tantalisingly poised, then rain

November 7, 2015

The match between Dharmaraja and Maliyadwa at Lake View was interestingly poised with the visitors needing 57 for the lead, with five wickets remaining. As on the first day, rain interfered after tea and put paid to hopes of a tight finish.

Lahiru Kumara top-scored for the home team with 57 and, for good measure, bagged a couple of wickets. Sanjeevan Priyadrshan, the bowler who bowled best for the visitors, bagged four wickets.

Devan skipper Damith Perera, batted well for his 35, displaying his usual array of strokes. However, Namidu Somaratne hogged the time light with an unbeaten 47. Devan hopes rested on him.

This is another disappointing no-decision for both teams who have experienced a few of them now.

Scores:

Dharmaraja (148-7 contd.) 171 in 53.1 overs (Lahiru Samarakoon 57; Sanjeevan Priyadarshana 4-28, Damitha Silva 2-47, Vishva Dissanaike 3-27) Maliyadeva 115-5 in 39.3 overs (Namidu Somaratne 47 not out, Damith Perera 35; Lahiru Samarakoon 2-27, Gihan Vitharana 2-20).
