A double century from Dharmaraja's right hander Kavinda Ratnayake helped his team amass a massive 367/6 on the first day of their match against St. Thomas' Matale at Lake View on Friday 5th.
This must be the 1st double century by a Rajan ever since the record breaking double century by any Rajan, Senaka Dissnayake, the present Coach, many many years ago against Kingswood. it is still highest score on either side in the Dharmaraja - Kingnswood Big Match series.
Ratnayake, who came in at first drop, was in complete control during his 243 ball knock which contained 23 fours and three sixes. Nivantha Herath, who contributed 62, shared in a fourth wicket stand of 138 with Ratnayake.
Skipper Tharusha Weragoda and Gihan Seneviratne also made tidy contributions.
Facing a massive forget, the Matale lads were racked by the pace combination of Upulitha Rajapakse and Deeshan Gunasinghe to be 9-2 by the close.
