It is rarely that Dharmaraja scores a victory at Colombo at cricket. The last one was two years ago when Rajans won by an innings over Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya. Before that, it was only in 2002 that Rajans beat Royal College, under the captaincy of Chamara Kapugedera. The only other victory before that was somewhere in the Nineties when Rajans scored a victory over Zahira College at Maradana.
In fact it is rarely that any Kandy school that travels down to Colombo scores a victory in Colombo, though Colombo schools scoring victories over Kandy schools in Kandy is quite common. Therefore the innings victory by Dharmaraja over D.S. Senanayake College over the last week end at Colombo is of special significance. Ramesh Ranasinghe who scored 120 runs and Venuka Galahaitiyawa who took a match bag of nine wickets were the players who made this victory possible.
