On February 9th,Munasinghe was educated at Dharmaraja College , kandy where he excelled in both studies and sports. He passed the Senior School Certificate examination in 1945 with exemption from London Matriculation, and the University Entrance in 1947.
After graduation he was directly recruited as an Assistant Superintendent of surveys, in which position he was awarded a scholarship to proceed for post graduate studies at Cambridge, and subsequently rose to the position as the youngest Surveyor General ,at the age of 45 in 1973.After his retirement he served the Ministry of Mahaweli Development as an Additional Secretary.
In school his favourite game was cricket .He wa a member of the first eleven cricket team in 1946 and 1947. In 1946 he topped the bowling with an average of 9.2.Best performance was six wickets for 22 against Ananda which contribution helped Dharmaraja to gain a victory against the strong Ananda
College team. This remains the record bowling performance for a Rajan against Ananda.In 1947 he scored 95 and 24 against Nalanda and 68 in the big match against Kingswood. Against Ananda he took five wickets for 57 repeating his 1946 performance .He was the captain of the Ananda House cricket team. He was awarded College colours for cricket in 1947.He was a school and hostel Prefect and the winner of the best all rounder prize ,awarded for studies and sports at the annual Prize

Munasinghe loved his alma mater.He never failed to respond with financial assistance to any appeal by the school authorities for funds for routine school events or for major development projects. To encourage sports at school he made monthly contributions towards the Sports Fund by means of a Bank Standing order.
He was very generous and lavish at entertaining . If ever the college Cricket Team visiting Colombo contacted him there was a prompt invitation for Dinner.
He was a tower of strength to the Dharmaraja College Old Boys’ Union ( Colombo branch ) which heserved as a Vice President for a long time ,and later as a Patron .Many Committee meetings of theUnion were held at his residence at the end of which all enjoyed a sumptuous dinner .he never failedto participate at the regular events of the Union ,the A.G.M., the Annual Dinner or the Founders Day Bodhi poojawa or any fund raising activity or a school event in Colombo .During the final years of his life he devoted more time for religious activities. Possessing the qualities of a good Buddhist , he was kind hearted, generous , sympathetic, obliging, and always prepared to assist those in need.
