The Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees (SLSRFR) decided yesterday to officiate the rest of the league games that have to be completed, after an important meeting with the Minister of Sports and the President of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Association (SLRFU).

Head of the SLSRFR Orville Fernando speaking to ThePapare.Com explained that he and his committee was satisfied with the solutions put forward by the Minister, as the upcoming games will be overlooked by the SLRFU as he finds no confidence in the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association(SLSRFA).

As requested by the SLSRFR, the Dharmaraja coach who was charged of misconduct will be in the spotlight, as action will be taken keeping in line with IRB rules and regulations, which is one of the main issues raised by the society.

Apart from that, the SLRFU will be in charge of making match arrangements with the SLSRFA, and spectators will be allowed to witness all games, and a few contentious venues will be decided by the SLRFU and the SLSRFA; however there will be a set code of conduct that has to be adhered to in order for a game to be completed.

Discipline should be at his highest, as the Minister assured maximum security, with the help of the Police who will be at the games, and any misconduct by the spectators that would hinder the safety of the players and officials would lead to the abandonment of the game.

Any school that is liable to causing havoc will be suspended for a period of one year.

The officials will only start play if they are fully satisfied with the conditions and safety, and has total authority in order to call of a game in case of any danger due to security reasons.

Fixtures of the remaining matches are yet to be finalized.

However,  the following will take place this weekend :

15th June – The Bradby at Royal Complex

15th June – S Thomas vs St Joseph’s at Havelock Park – Lady Jayatilake Memorial Shield

16th June - St Anthony’s vs Science College at Bogambara
