An aggressive, unbeaten 88 by Rajan front-liner Isuru Dayananda (13x4s, 1x6s) piloted his team to a nine wicket win over St. Peter’s Negombo in their Under 17 second round match played at Lake View.
Inserted by the Rajans, the visitors could only manage a meager 156. Shehan Muditha (48 with 6 fours) showed the way with the bat. But save for Chamika Nimesh and Saluka Thilina, the others did not follow his example.
Left-arm spinners Upendra Warnakulasuriya and Thushan Herath had identical figures – 4 for 38.
Dayananda and Janith Chaturanga (44) added 111 for the first wicket to cook the Peterite goose. This is an important win for the Rajans who went upset by the Anthonains on the Parabola system.
St. Peter’s 156 in 37.2 overs (Shehan Muditha 48, Chanuka Nimesh 24, Saluka Thilina 15, Upendra Warnakulasuriya 4-38, Thushan Herath 4-38).
Dharmaraja 158-1 in 24.3 overs (Isuru Dayananda 88 n.o., Janith Chaturanga 44, Dinesh Thushara 1-44).
